Regarding notifications and Reddit…
I’ve been found out 🙂
So, for at least until the end of June anything that even remotely resembles a hot deal will be posted exclusive in my sub – https://www.reddit.com/r/PlasticFantasticDeals/new/. After that… we’ll see.
“Big sub” only gets ‘meh deals from now on.
This isn’t done out of spite, or anything remotely like it. It’s just an unfortunate fact that the better the deal, the faster it goes poof, and posting a hot deal in the big sub makes it go poof pretty much instantly.
The perfect example of this is the ESUN BOGO from this morning. I knew better than to post it on the big sub, because one of the resins needed to make the deal was showing around 15 in stock. And 15 is nothing for that sub. There’s 20K+ people there (there’s not… not even in the same universe type of close, but still a LOT)… 15 wouldn’t have lasted 2 minutes, and would inevitably lead to the type of interaction you see above, which i’ve had a SUPRISING amount of lately.
I’ve been posting there for a couple of years now, and i do not remember it ever being this….. weird. I don’t mean to pick on whoever it is i’m quoting in the screenshot, because i can go back and dig up dozens of similar interactions with other people. For some reason there seems to be this weird vibe in that sub that i’m out to somehow “bamboozle” them.
And i can’t blame them. If i relied on Reddit notifications (that can take forever) to get updates for posts, and every time i got to the deal it was gone (no matter how fast i got there after notifications), i would also start to get “suspicious”. I know, because that used to happen to me all the time, and that’s what i used to think before i started posting deals.
So, deals that are likely to go poof fast (aka usually the best ones) go in my sub. Something that’s likely to stick around for a while (and is much more likely to be kind of ‘meh) goes in the big sub. If you want to follow along on Reddit the best way is to just follow my account – https://www.reddit.com/user/pashag3g/
If you want your notifications fast, and organized into category feeds – Discord is your friend.
It sucks… but the reality is that some deals are not meant for a large audience. Not enough stock, promos that run out too fast, etc, etc, etc. So these will go where there is a very, very, VERY small audience, at least when it comes to Reddit.
How small? Scroll back up and take a look at the number of views in that screenshot, and take a look below…. yeah, it’s small 🙂
Right on. I only saw the resin deal because the telegram notification popped up.
