Last licks for AliEx Fall Sale and Ebay 15% off coupon… Prime Day incoming… Maintenance and Discord mini-purge tonight.
Second time this month where both AliEx and Ebay have their promos/sales end at the same time. Last time around Ebay had slightly better deals, but this time i think AliEx may have a slight edge, mostly because of the “surprise” September coupons.
So, let’s start with AliEx Fall Sale…
We haven’t had monthly codes for AliEx in about two years now. They used to be a regular thing, but one day AliEx just stopped issuing them… and that was it. This is why i call these “surprise” codes – they came out of nowhere. And if you take a look through the link above, and compare these codes to the usual sales codes, you will instantly see – they’re better 🙂
These codes work on select items only. In the past, AliEx also used to provide a link to a landing page, where every item that appeared was eligible for these codes. There was no link/page this time, just the codes. So it’s a complete crapshoot in terms of which items they will work on.
To make things even more “fun”, even on listings where these do work, only some of them may work. You’ll see me mention in posts often that a certain code didn’t take, but another one did. So even if you do find a listing which seems to be “receptive”, certain codes may still not work, and you may have to use a lesser value one, or bulk up to use a bigger code, etc.
These monthly codes technically run until the end of the month, but in the past they never made it that far, and would always “run out” before that. Not sure how these are setup… been a while, they may do things different this time, etc. What i do know is that AliEx has no more sales coming up for September, so this is your last chance to use these codes in combination with actual sale prices.
Ebay 15% off coupon is not bad…
It hard to get too excited about 15% off to begin with, especially since this coupon came out about a day after their 20% off ended. Selection is actually pretty good this time around, with lots of listings that qualify, and a decent amount of sellers participating. There were some pretty good deals early on, but most of the sellers have adjust their prices since.
If you added stuff to cart early on, when the coupon just came out, check your email – there is a good chance you may have a discounted offer from the seller. A lot of those are the “Thank you, but go f#ck yourself” type… like the one i got from one of Creality resellers offering me a WHOPPING $4 off on a $1400 listing, but some are legit. Check… never know 🙂
I’m not trying to “poo-poo” on this coupon… there are certainly deals to be had. It’s just not as good as the one that ended a day before this one started. It would look much better in comparison, if there was at least some time apart. Ebay already ran two coupons this month, so it’s unlikely we’ll have another one, and while this one is maybe not the greatest, it’s also pretty much last licks for any type of real sale on Ebay for this month.
We got a couple of weeks before the madness starts… will be interesting to see how it goes. Next week is a bit of a wild-card. It’s the end of the month, and some sellers may throw something out there. Week before Prime Day is usually super slow. There are some “early access” deals scheduled, but they’re mostly bullshit – just regurgitation of current deals at the same prices.
Prime Day itself looks good, though… at least based on the previews i’ve seen from Amazon. It’s not going to be all that much different from previous Prime Day sales – nothing crazy, but LOTS of stuff at good prices, with lots of sellers participating, some who otherwise never run any sales of any kind.
On my end, Prime Day is always “extra fun”, because Amazon has a “tradition” of changing something in the way their api or their site works right before the sale starts, breaking all my site’s automation as a side effect. I forgot the last time i didn’t spend the day before Prime Day starts without having to fix something.
Like i said – will be interesting to see how it goes… stay tuned 🙂
Site maintenance overnight…
Basic things like backup/updates/database optimization and some bug fixes, etc. Shouldn’t take too long, but site could be buggy/unresponsive, or maybe even temporarily down while it’s happening. If time allows, plan on fixing some notification bugs, in which case Discord notifications may be disabled for a bit, and some channels may be temporarily set to private (so test notifications don’t come through, and alert everyone in the middle of the night for no reason, etc).

Thank you to all that got rid of the 3DPD tramp-stamp. To the couple that chose to leave instead – so be it, i respect your conviction. Anyone still rocking it as their tag will be banned overnight.
As much as i happen to like the people involved (at least in some cases) anyone that’s “staff” for Petunia is getting banned as well. If you’re actively helping the very people who make stealing from me their business model, it’s probably best if you stay off my server.
