Womp, womp, womp… technical difficulties, please stand by.
Oh, how i love these little surprises…
Backend of the site has been having some “issues” for the last day or so. As of right now, i’m having difficulty browsing, posting new deals, or expiring old ones. Things that are kinda sorta essential to running a site like this.
Everything on the site is set to NOT auto update precisely to avoid surprises like this, but something obviously snuck in. I can’t figure out what it is. No new installations or updates are showing in the logs, etc, but something obviously “changed”…. or just broke, somehow. Or it could be the host updated something like PHP or MySQL on the server end, and something with my site is suddenly incompatible. Really don’t know…. don’t even know where to begin figuring this out, since the functions that are broken are pretty much the most basic ones in theme/CMS that have never once had an issue.
I contacted the dev, so let’s hope he can figure something out, but based on past experience – this is very much just “hope”, especially if needed to be done fast. Most likely, i will end up rolling up one of the daily site backups, probably going back a week or so, just to make sure i went back enough…. and then keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes back to normal.
So, basically…
Either i’ll get some kind of a fix from the dev by late night tonight, or i’ll be rolling up a backup. Restoring a backup can be a bit of a crapshoot. Sometimes it’s a few minutes, but it could also be as long as a couple of hours, or even longer if something craps out, during which time the site will be down. Should be back, hopefully working again, by morning.
In the meantime, no new deals (unless it’s something batshit crazy) until this is fixed.
