X (Twitter) notifications are now for 3d printing related stuff only.
My MASSSIVE following of 9 people will be crushed…
Most of the regulars already know that the amount of advertising or promotion i do for the site is exactly zero. I would rather spend that time looking for more deals. So, it wouldn’t exactly come as a shock to me if most of you had no idea that the X account even existed. Well, it does exist, and apparently it ran into a problem – too many posts.
X notifications are automated to go out two minutes after the post goes live, same as Discord, Telegram or Facebook. X gets the full feed (minus PFDbot), so it’s all my posts from all the categories, etc. Their free api limit is 17 posts in 24 hours, which is fine most of the time – there are rarely days where i post more than that. But, i guess since i’ve been back, and have been a little more active, i’ve been going over that number.
Running into limits is bad, since repeatedly doing this may eventually lead to the account being suspended/banned. Plus the feed becomes “Swiss cheese”, as a bunch of posts get rejected. So, to cut this off before it becomes a problem, i’m excluding all notifications for the “Other” section – Random, Tools, Gadgets. The only exception that stays is “Maker”. This should cut the number of posts on X by at least half, ensuring i don’t have to worry about going over their limit.
Their next level of access from free is “basic”, which costs $100 a month, and allows for much higher api usage. If there was 9000 followers on X, i would gladly sign up. Probably same for 900… heck, even 90. But with 9…………..
Yeah, maybe i should promote a little more… maybe i can even get the number X followers to jump into the stratosphere – double digits 🙂
