The tale of 2 duds – AliExpress Anniversary Sale and Amazon’s Big Spring Sale.
So, there are two major sales happening right now, and yet the site is dead…
Part of it is because i’m busy with other things, but another much bigger part is because these sales are kind of duds. Nothing immediately jumps out, so need to “dig”, and just haven’t had time to.
Let’s start with Amazon…
Big Spring Sale is live now, and runs through the weekend. Originally, rumors of a BIG sale in the spring started circulating last fall, and it was supposed to be a third Prime Day. Up until about a month ago this is kind of what people were expecting. What we got is kind of sort of like Prime Day…. but only kind of sort of.
Prime Day is basically a parade of Lightning Deals. All the same sellers that tend to run Lightning Deals during the year show up in force, with slightly lower than usual prices and in much higher volume. This sale is kind of sort of like it in a sense that we have the same parade of sellers, only this time with normal volume and same as usual prices… at least so far.
If Amazon didn’t make a big deal internally about the upcoming BIG SALE i wouldn’t even know they had one running based on prices that i’m seeing.
There are a couple of big spring sales on AliEx – Anniversary Sale and Spring Festival sometime in April. Anniversary sale has been running since Monday, and the fact that i only bring it up now on Thursday night should give you an idea of what i think of it…
There is no Spend and Save, which is a huge bummer. Parts and filament deals are just not the same without it. Stock for a lot of items is somewhere between low and nonexistent (this includes pretty much all the large Voron kits). Stuff that’s in stock seems to have crazier than normal shipping and overall – sellers just don’t seem too “enthusiastic” this time around. There are very few seller coupons out. Without Spend and Save and seller coupons all that’s left are checkout codes, which are not terrible, but………

This sale is a marathon that runs through the 28th, so there is a good chance that things will change. Seller coupons could pop up, and AliEx has a habit of constantly issuing new codes. This sale could end up being great, but for now – let’s just say i’m looking forward to the Spring Festival 🙂
