The Gemini is a great board. V3 adds better 5v protection between the host board (the built in alt-pi) and the mcu, removes the need for a separate CAN hat board and allows the mcu to be flashed from the host microSD card slot. I would also suggest getting the M2WE add-on which goes in the m2 socket and gives 16gb emmc and 2.4/5ghz wifi with an external antenna (frees up a usb port instead of using a wifi dongle).
